GrabCar driver has fatal heart attack while dropping off passenger at KLIA2

PETALINGA JAYA: A GrabCar driver died after a heart attack while dropping off a passenger at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) here Friday.

Police identified the deceased as Dedi Abdullah, 28, from Shah Alam.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali said Dedi was dropping off his passenger at KLIA2 from Shah Alam at about 7.30am when the incident happened.

“He started experiencing breathing difficulties near Gate 3 at the arrival hall. His passenger sought for help from a traffic policeman on duty at the airport,” he said.

ACP Aziz said the policeman roped in paramedics from a clinic in the airport to help the man.

However, he was pronounced dead at around 8.20am.

His body was brought to Hospital Serdang for a post-mortem.

ACP Aziz said Dedi died from a heart attack and the case has been classified as sudden death.

Grab Malaysia requested that the public respect the family’s privacy and not to share his personal data on social media.

Its country head Jaygan Fu said the company is focused on fully assisting Dedi’s family at the moment.

“On behalf of the Grab family, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to Mr Dedi Abdullah’s family during this time of loss,” said Fu in a statement.

Fu also thanked the passenger for her quick action to prevent any accident.
