U Mobile, Digi, Celcom & Maxis iPhone 7 Plans: iPhone 7 & 7 Plus Malaysia Prices & Packages Comparison

Telco Price Comparison: iPhone 7 and 7 Plus from Celcom, Digi, Maxis, and U Mobile

Now that the four major telcos in Malaysia have revealed the contract prices for the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which plan offers the best choice for you? We’ve compiled the latest contract plans for the new iPhone from Celcom, Digi, Maxis, and U Mobile and grouped them by monthly commitments foe easy reading.

The tables will also reveal the total cost of ownership that includes the monthly commitments you pay over the course of the contract and the subsidised price for the device itself.

This year, three of the four telcos have streamlined their postpaid plans for the iPhone 7. With the exception of U Mobile, gone are the days when every telco offered a special postpaid plan just for the iPhone. Celcom, Digi, and Maxis all opted for adopting their current postpaid plans for the iPhone 7 contract, which makes things super easy to analyse.

Monthly Commitment of RM100 and Below

Monthly Commitment from RM100 to RM150

Monthly Commitment from RM151 and above

All telcos charge a certain figure as advance payment, which is based on your plan’s value. This figure will be reimbursed as monthly rebates over the course of the contract; different telcos reimburse the amount at different speeds.

Upon subscribing to the contract, you will have to pay the advance payment as well as the subsidised device price (if you’re not opting for an easy payment plan).

Some telcos are offering attractive perks if you choose their iPhone 7 plan. Digi, for example, is offering an additional 5GB for the entire 24-month contract duration at no additional costs. On the other hand, U Mobile have the distinctive U Package and U Micro Credit services that help you get an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus without a credit card, or without even paying an advance payment. Maxis is banking on its seamless MaxisONE plan with Data Pool to attract new subscribers.

In all, while these tables provide a good overview of all the iPhone 7 plans available right now, it isn’t simply a matter of choosing the plan that offers the lowest total cost of ownership. As we’ve said before, not all telco networks are made equal, and some have better networks in specific areas compared to others.

Or, you could always get the new iPhone without a contract – though unlikely at the prices the telcos are offering.
